The first film society in Kerala was formed on July 21, 1965 with the inauguration of Chirttalekha film society in Thiruvananthapuram under the leadership of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Kulathoor Bhaskaran Nair, KP Kumaran and Sreevaraham Balakrishnan.
